As previously mentioned the Yohure tribe resides in the central region of what is today the Ivory Coast, to the east of the city Bouafle between the white and red bandama rivers. The tribe's population is currently estimated at about 20,000. They are heavily influenced by the Baule and the Guro, two larger tribes who reside along their borders. Depending on a Yohure village's location the inhabitants may speak Baule or Guro. Yohure villages are often governed by a single leader or chief who is assisted by a council of elders, each representing a different family in the village. It is said that every Yohure family can trace its lineage directly back to an ancient African ancestor.
